The Pickup

Another Pair, a New Size

I recently bought another pair of Air Jordan 1 Lows, specifically in the 'Flight Club' colorway, to see if switching from a size 9.5M to 10.5M would alleviate the foot pain I've been experiencing. So far, I'm happy to report that the larger size has made a significant difference.

Size Matters

The Right Fit

  • No More Foot Pain — With the 10.5M size, there is zero foot pain. The previous shoes were simply too small.
  • AJ1s Don't Stretch — It's crucial to wear the size that feels comfortable from the start. Try them on in the afternoon after some walking, when feet are at their maximum size for the day.

The Importance of Comfort

What Was Going Wrong

  • Uncomfortable Shoes — The 9.5M AJ1s, along with Court Vision and Converse, were causing real misery. Going up one size made all the difference.
  • Width Over Length — The difference between 9.5M and 10.5M isn't substantial in length, but the width is what really matters. Tight shoes had caused calluses and corns, likely stemming from a problematic pair of Adidas shoes the year before.

Lesson Learned

Don't Compromise on Comfort

The biggest takeaway here is clear: don't mess around with uncomfortable shoes. Finding the right fit has transformed my experience and alleviated a lot of unnecessary discomfort. I'm looking forward to enjoying my Air Jordans without the hassle of foot pain.

Size Comfort Issues Verdict
9.5M (old) Poor Foot pain, calluses, corns — too narrow Too small
10.5M (new) Excellent None Right fit
Try sneakers on in the afternoon after walking — feet swell throughout the day and that's the size you'll actually be wearing them at.

Air Jordan 1 Low 'Flight Club' · Size 10.5M · Zero foot pain — one size up changed everything.

My ZX-100 has lasted over 2½ years, enduring countless tosses into my backpack and car without any issues. However, the lower-end ZX-100 and ZX-110 models have a significant downside: poor-quality earpads.   The Earpad Problem Over time, the earpads on the ZX-100 and ZX-110 disintegrate, leaving vinyl flakes that stick to your hair and ears. The ZX-310 comes with upgraded earpads that don't suffer from this problem — a clear win in the build department. Tip: If your earpads start to flake, it is a sign of material degradation; consider replacing the cushions or upgrading to a model with more durable synthetic lea...

While features are always a plus, my main priority is size. Here's how some of the models I've tried stack up. 5600 Series For overall size, the 5600 series stands out as a favorite due to its compact, comfortable form. It's slim, lightweight, and fits well on my wrist without being too bulky. Although the 6900 series provides the benefit of a well-placed front illumination button, the 5600 remains the ideal size for everyday wear.   Section II Best Compromise: G900...
