Battery Replacement Process
Recently, the battery in my Seiko SSB003 died, prompting me to take action. Here’s a quick overview of the battery replacement process and my observations of the movement.
- →Opening the Case — I carefully popped open the watch to access the battery compartment.
- →Identifying the Battery — The watch required an SR936SW battery, which I was able to find and replace without any issues.
- →Movement Inspection — It was fascinating to see the 6T63A movement inside. While it may not be extravagant, the inner workings of the watch always pique my interest.

Movement Features
The technical construction of the watch makes for an efficient service experience.
- →Standard Screwback — The watch features a standard screwback case, which adds to its durability.
- →Battery Locking Mechanism — The battery is secured by a thin metal strip that runs across it. To unlock it, I gently pushed on the part of the metal bar nearest the edge of the case, allowing for easy battery replacement.
Tip: When releasing the battery locking mechanism, apply gentle, steady pressure to avoid bending the thin metal tension bar.
| Component | Status/Model | Action Taken |
|---|---|---|

Overall, the process was straightforward, and it was enjoyable to take a closer look at the movement. It’s always satisfying to breathe new life into a watch with a simple battery change.
