I've tried several options at Narita Airport over the years, and this time decided to visit the IASS Travel Lounge after previously using the Travel Pay lounges. The difference is noticeable — while I was able to access IASS for free, you really do get what you pay for, and it's not on the same level as Travel Pay.
That said, Narita is one of the cleanest, most comfortable airports around. Even the basic lounge here is less essential than what you'd find in U.S. airports like LAX or DFW, where the terminal-to-lounge gap is far more dramatic.

What You Get
The IASS Lounge keeps things simple, but it does include a few solid perks that make the stop worthwhile.
- → Free Asahi beer — a standout benefit, one can complimentary
- → Drink machines — good variety, surprisingly well-stocked
- → Dedicated Wi-Fi — worked reliably throughout the visit
Section II
Comfort & Atmosphere
The seating isn't designed for long stays — the chairs are firm, and this is definitely not a place for a nap. Still, the lounge offers a calmer, more secure environment than the general terminal.
| Attribute | IASS Lounge | Narita Terminal |
|---|---|---|
| Seating | Firm, short-stay | Excellent variety |
| Quiet | Yes — calmer | Busier |
| Food Options | Drink machines | Tons of restaurants |
| Wi-Fi | Dedicated, reliable | Free airport-wide |
Section III
Unexpected Highlight: Tomato Juice
The surprise winner of the visit? The tomato juice. I wasn't expecting much from a basic drink machine — but it ended up being my favorite thing there. I went back for more than one cup.
If you visit, give the tomato juice a try. It's oddly satisfying — and the kind of small thing that makes a visit memorable.
Section IV
Final Verdict
- → Free access? — Yes, worth it for a beer, Wi-Fi, and a quieter hour before departure
- → Paying for entry? — Stick with Travel Pay, or just enjoy Narita's excellent terminal
- → Bottom line — Narita's terminal is already so good, the lounge advantage is smaller than most airports
