I've tried several places in search of a good Old Fashioned, and so far, the best has been at the 2nd-floor bar in Legacy Hall, Plano. While I've had better versions elsewhere, they usually come at a higher price than the $11 version they serve here.

They use Old Forester for their liquor, which strikes a perfect balance of sweetness without relying too heavily on sugar or syrup.
