Reflections on a Difficult Year
Navigating the isolation and the search for normalcy in unprecedented times
A Challenging Year
2020 has been a challenging year. I know it could be worse, and in many ways, I’m very fortunate. However, the isolation and ennui are really taking their toll on me.
I’m sure things will improve. The COVID-19 pandemic has created a shared experience of global misery on a scale not felt since the Great Depression or World War II. As everyone says, it’s time to suck it up and carry on.
While I understand this and will continue to move forward, I still feel the need to express my frustrations. Despite being able to enjoy many creature comforts, one thing I sorely miss is the ability to eat in a proper restaurant—none of this takeaway.
| Reflection Category | Impact Level | Outlook |
|---|---|---|
| Isolation | High | Pending |
| Ennui | Moderate | Stable |
| Normalcy | Low | Hopeful |
