The Return of a Favorite

I took the plunge and repurchased the Armani AR0585—a model I used to own years ago and regretted selling. It served as the perfect beater watch, and I was lucky to find it again at about the same price I sold it for, but in even better condition! For $65, this watch is an absolute steal. It’s a shame that Armani doesn’t produce watches like this anymore.

Technical Specifications
  • Dial Size — 43mm
  • Lug Width — 23mm
  • Movement — Quartz (Miyota OS20)
  • Battery — SR927W (equivalent to 395/399)
  • Chronograph — 3 registers at 3, 6, and 9 dial positions
  • Water Resistance — 5 ATM (50 meters)
  • Material — Stainless steel with a deployment clasp
  • Comparable Model — AR0527 (features a rubber strap instead of a metal bracelet)
Domed vs. Flat Crystal

One of the standout features of the AR0585 is its domed crystal. While this design makes it more vulnerable to chips and scratches from hard surfaces, I find that the aesthetic appeal of a domed crystal is unmatched.

FeatureImpact
Visual AppealThe curvature of the crystal adds a captivating element that enhances the look.
Market PositionThis watch hits above its weight class in style for the price point.
Tip: The domed crystal is a stylistic win, but be mindful of hard surfaces as the profile is more prone to minor chips and scratches.
Conclusion

Overall, I’m thrilled to have the Armani AR0585 back in my collection. It perfectly balances style and functionality, making it a fantastic addition to any watch enthusiast's lineup.

A true budget classic that stands the test of time.

My ZX-100 has lasted over 2½ years, enduring countless tosses into my backpack and car without any issues. However, the lower-end ZX-100 and ZX-110 models have a significant downside: poor-quality earpads.   The Earpad Problem Over time, the earpads on the ZX-100 and ZX-110 disintegrate, leaving vinyl flakes that stick to your hair and ears. The ZX-310 comes with upgraded earpads that don't suffer from this problem — a clear win in the build department. Tip: If your earpads start to flake, it is a sign of material degradation; consider replacing the cushions or upgrading to a model with more durable synthetic lea...

While features are always a plus, my main priority is size. Here's how some of the models I've tried stack up. 5600 Series For overall size, the 5600 series stands out as a favorite due to its compact, comfortable form. It's slim, lightweight, and fits well on my wrist without being too bulky. Although the 6900 series provides the benefit of a well-placed front illumination button, the 5600 remains the ideal size for everyday wear.   Section II Best Compromise: G900...
