Personal Collections Review for 2024
Headphones, tech, watches, knives, sneakers, and fountain pens
Total Value
The total value of my collections is relatively modest, with a few items making up the bulk of the value—namely my Rolex, Omega, and iPhone 16. Without those high-value pieces, the rest of my collection is worth around $2,400.
That said, I'm considering a major purchase in 2025, which could significantly impact the total. I'm eyeing a Rolex Submariner 14060 or an Omega Speedmaster Professional, budgeting between $4,000 to $8,000 for one of these iconic pieces. If I pull the trigger, it would effectively double the value of my collection.
Headphones ~$600
I've streamlined my headphone collection a bit since my last review. I parted with my AKGs and couldn't find a third pair of old Apple earbuds, but I've added a few wireless options, including some new Lightning Apple Earbuds.
I also gave away my AirPods Pro and sold my Klipsch R6i and Beats Urbeats—the AirPods Pro didn't really work for me, as I prefer the regular AirPods. Wireless technology has come a long way, and now I find myself using Bluetooth headphones more often than wired ones. In fact, I'm considering investing in a higher-quality Bluetooth pair in 2024 or 2025.

Tech ~$3,000
I upgraded my phone, swapping my iPhone 11 for the iPhone 14 Pro. Aside from that, I haven't added much new tech, though I did get an iPhone 16. The biggest change here is the addition of an iMac M3, and I've even picked up another iPhone 6s, as they're so old now people are giving them away.
While I've pared down my collection a bit, I may add an iMac desktop later in 2024, but that's the only planned tech upgrade for the time being.

Watches ~$8,000
My watch collection has become more streamlined, with the sale of my Seiko and Victorinox pieces. I added the Apple Watch SE2 for a while, but after a year of use, I've realized I prefer wearing my Rolex or Casio. That said, the Apple Watch still has its place for travel and workouts.
Looking ahead, I'm thinking about adding either a Rolex Submariner 14060 or an Omega Speedmaster Professional in 2025, which would significantly increase the total value of my collection.

Swiss Army Knives ~$500
In 2023, I really expanded my Swiss Army Knife collection, growing it to a total of 34 pieces. There are so many models to go through, so I haven't inventoried them all yet, but here's a quick overview of the breakdown:
| Category | Count |
|---|---|
| 111mm | 1 |
| Alox | 4 |
| 91mm | 18 |
| 58mm | 10 |
| Other | 1 |
| Total | 34 |
Sneakers ~$700
I've made some notable updates to my sneaker collection. I'm now focusing primarily on Nike, especially Air Force 1 and Air Jordans, and have moved away from my old preference for Onitsuka and Adidas. I plan to swap out my 9.5M AJ1 for a pair of Adidas Stan Smith and a replacement 10.5M AJ1 Reverse Black Toe. The 9.5M AJ1 Reverse Black Toe will be retired and stored away.

- →Pilot Metropolitan (x3)
Final Thoughts
Overall, 2024 has seen some evolution in my collections. While I've parted with a few items, I've also added some significant pieces, particularly in watches and tech. With a potential big acquisition in 2025, the value of my collections is poised to grow significantly. I look forward to continuing this hobby and keeping track of the changes in future reviews!
