Current Collection

As of 2022, I've streamlined my watch collection down to six pieces, with plans to add a few more. Here’s what I have:

  • Rolex Explorer 114270 — A classic staple in the collection.
  • Omega Seamaster 2531.80 — A reliable automatic diver.
  • Zenith Cal 126 — A vintage piece currently being considered for sale.
  • Seiko SKX781 — The 1st Gen Orange Monster, a rare and collectible diver.
  • Casio G-Shock DW5600 — The ultimate durable daily driver.
  • Casio A168 — A classic, lightweight digital companion.
Future & Recent Additions

I’m excited about my acquisitions throughout the year:

  • Omega x Swatch (Mars) — Acquired November 2022.
  • Apple Watch SE 2 (44mm) — Ordered September 2022.
  • Timex Mk1 — Purchased August 2022, but subsequently sold.
My daily wear has primarily leaned towards quartz models, though I still enjoy the Seiko and Omega. I anticipate the newer quartz additions will likely become my primary rotation.

Culling and Strategy

To reach a more manageable collection of 7-8 watches, I parted with the Victorinox INOX and am considering letting go of the Zenith. I want to limit my collection to make it easier to manage.

Milestone Updates

  • Timex Mk1 Purchase — I couldn’t resist when the price dropped to $79 from $199.
  • Apple Watch SE 2 — Officially ordered on 9/17/22; this year is shaping up to be the year of Apple for me.
  • Omega x Swatch — On 11/5/22, I sold the Timex and purchased this piece. I managed to flip the Timex for a profit that covered most of the cost.
While I'm looking to trim the herd, the mechanical watches will always have a place in the collection, even if they see less wrist time compared to the convenience of quartz.
With all desired watches now acquired, 2022 has been a fulfilling year for my collection.

Sony MDR-ZX100 vs ZX-110 vs ZX-310 Series Headphones

Gear Review Budget Audio Face-off: Sony ZX Series Review Comparing the ZX-100, ZX-110, and ZX-310 for your everyday carry ~3 Models ~$10–$20 Price 2.5+ Years Longevity Table of Contents ① Build Quality ② Cost Comparison ③ Sound Quality ④ Overall Value ⑤ Upgrade Path Section I Build Quality The Sony ZX series headphones primarily feature a durable plastic construction. My ZX-100 has lasted over 2½ years, enduring countless tosses into my backpack and car without any issues. However, the lower-end ZX-100 and ZX-110 models have a significant downside: poor-quality earpads.   The Earpad Problem Over time, the earpads on the ZX-100 and ZX-110 disintegrate, leaving vinyl flakes that stick to your hair and ears. The ZX-310 comes with upgraded earpads that don't suffer from this problem — a clear win in the build department. Tip: If your earpads start to flake, it is a sign of material degradation; consider replacing the cushions or upgrading to a model with more durable synthetic lea...

While features are always a plus, my main priority is size. Here's how some of the models I've tried stack up. 5600 Series For overall size, the 5600 series stands out as a favorite due to its compact, comfortable form. It's slim, lightweight, and fits well on my wrist without being too bulky. Although the 6900 series provides the benefit of a well-placed front illumination button, the 5600 remains the ideal size for everyday wear.   Section II Best Compromise: G900...
