Baseball Caps

My Journey with Baseball Caps

I've owned quite a few baseball caps over the years, ranging from fitted and snapbacks to mesh truckers. Generally, I wear a hat either to protect myself from the elements or when I'm feeling lazy and didn’t fix my hair.

Minimal Design and Colors

In keeping with a minimalist theme, I prefer either single-color black or white hats, with as few designs or logos as possible. It's easy to find a decent baseball cap for about $10 at various discount retailers and even less online from Amazon.

Mesh Caps for the Breeze

For hot weather or when I anticipate sweating, mesh trucker hats offer the most utility. Otherwise, I favor the classic snapback style and often look for slightly oversized options.

Logo Caps

In the past, I favored logo caps from my favorite sports teams or name brands. My favorites included a New York Yankees cap and a simple white Adidas logo snapback.

Simple is Best

By no means do I consider myself an expert; I continue to learn and discover new things every day. It has been a personal journey for me to figure out what works and what doesn’t. Surprisingly, I’ve found that the plain classics seem to fit my style best. I now maintain a small collection of black and white baseball caps, with at least one or two being trucker caps.

Mini-Review of Amazon $5.99 Acrylic Hats

I took a gamble and picked up a pair of $5.99 acrylic baseball hats from Amazon. They are standard 6-panel caps with a velcro extender in the back. Overall, they are acceptable for the price range, but I find that my 100% cotton snapbacks, priced at $10.99, offer better quality and comfort.

If you can find them for $5.99 or less, they are acceptable. Anything more, and it’s better to opt for 100% cotton snapbacks. I plan to try them out for a while, and if I like them, I may splurge on a few more colors (Hunter Green, Burgundy, and Navy). I'm finding that more subdued colors and hues look best on me, and I’ll also explore some mesh versions.

Update - 5 Month Review

After several months, I'm finding the black acrylic hat quite comfortable and useful. It has maintained its shape and color, which I expected given its 100% polyester build. Interestingly, I find myself reaching for this hat more than my other black caps.
