The Search for the Perfect Polo

After years of experimenting with various brands, I finally found the perfect Polo shirts. I initially relied on Ralph Lauren exclusively, but their quality has declined, prompting me to explore other options.

Brands I've Tried

Throughout my search, I tested a wide variety of labels to find the right balance of fit and durability:

  • American Eagle — casual everyday wear
  • Abercrombie & Fitch — classic cuts
  • Old Navy — budget-friendly basics
  • GAP — reliable staples
  • Banana Republic — elevated textures
  • Foot Locker — athletic performance styles
  • Armani Exchange — fashion-forward fits
  • Ralph Lauren — long-time staple with recent quality concerns
  • Tommy Hilfiger — traditional branding
  • Nautica — maritime-inspired designs
  • LZOD — alternative options
  • Moncler — high-end performance
  • Burberry — luxury detailing
The Uniqlo Discovery

While the higher-priced shirts often boasted better quality, I wasn't keen on spending $50 to $200 per shirt, especially since I needed about 5 to 7 polos. That's when I discovered Uniqlo, which offers excellent options at just $20 each.

Initially, I was hesitant about the Uniqlo polos because they have two buttons on the collar, whereas I'm used to three. However, I decided to give them a try, and they fit perfectly.
Quality Concerns

The big question is whether the collars will hold up over time. This has been a common issue I've faced with most polo shirts.

Brand TierTypical Price RangeQuality Expectation
Budget$20 - $30Moderate
Mid-Range$40 - $80High
Luxury$100+Premium

I’ll check back in a few months to see how the Uniqlo shirts fare.

Stay tuned for my follow-up review on long-term wear and collar durability.
