The Search for a New Look

I recently sourced a 20mm rubber Bonetto Cinturini 285 strap from an old Casio watch and decided to try it on my Omega Seamaster 2531.80. To my surprise, it actually looks quite good, giving the watch a more sporty feel. I've been experimenting with various watch bands to see what works best, and while the black leather band looked okay, the rubber strap definitely feels better.

Future Strap Plans

I plan to cycle through a few different aesthetics to see how the Seamaster holds up in various configurations. Here are the upcoming additions to my rotation:

  • Hirsch Liberty Brown Leather — a classic leather option I intend to test next.
  • Hadley Roma PU Ballistic — a black strap with orange stitching that I believe will make my Omega truly sing.
A simple watch band change can work wonders in making an old watch feel new again, and I’m loving the Seamaster all over again.

Practical Upgrades

Since I spend most of my time on a computer, the stainless steel band has been getting scuffed up, and I’m looking for a fresh look. Additionally, my arm tends to expand during the hot summer months, and I’m tired of constantly adjusting the links. The Omega isn't the most user-friendly when it comes to resizing the metal band, making these third-party straps a much more convenient alternative for daily comfort.

Update (5/19/14): Even though the Bonetto Cinturini strap is starting to tear, I really like how it looks, so I went ahead and ordered a new one. I’ll chalk it up to age—it’s definitely time for a replacement. The new strap cost just $25 on eBay, so I can't complain!
Small changes, like a fresh strap, can completely transform your daily wear experience.

Sony MDR-ZX100 vs ZX-110 vs ZX-310 Series Headphones

Gear Review Budget Audio Face-off: Sony ZX Series Review Comparing the ZX-100, ZX-110, and ZX-310 for your everyday carry ~3 Models ~$10–$20 Price 2.5+ Years Longevity Table of Contents ① Build Quality ② Cost Comparison ③ Sound Quality ④ Overall Value ⑤ Upgrade Path Section I Build Quality The Sony ZX series headphones primarily feature a durable plastic construction. My ZX-100 has lasted over 2½ years, enduring countless tosses into my backpack and car without any issues. However, the lower-end ZX-100 and ZX-110 models have a significant downside: poor-quality earpads.   The Earpad Problem Over time, the earpads on the ZX-100 and ZX-110 disintegrate, leaving vinyl flakes that stick to your hair and ears. The ZX-310 comes with upgraded earpads that don't suffer from this problem — a clear win in the build department. Tip: If your earpads start to flake, it is a sign of material degradation; consider replacing the cushions or upgrading to a model with more durable synthetic lea...

While features are always a plus, my main priority is size. Here's how some of the models I've tried stack up. 5600 Series For overall size, the 5600 series stands out as a favorite due to its compact, comfortable form. It's slim, lightweight, and fits well on my wrist without being too bulky. Although the 6900 series provides the benefit of a well-placed front illumination button, the 5600 remains the ideal size for everyday wear.   Section II Best Compromise: G900...
