December 2025 Everyday Carry

Simple, lightweight, and pocket-friendly — a setup that's stayed remarkably consistent since 2024

Section I

Current EDC Items

My Everyday Carry has stayed remarkably consistent since 2024, with just one major update: I now use the iPhone Air as my daily phone. The biggest shift actually happened back in March 2024, when I switched from a full-size wallet to the Coach Card Wallet.

That change made a noticeable difference in comfort and pocket space — as long as you keep it snug in your pocket. I'd hesitated to use a card wallet before because I'd had it fall out more than once, but after adjusting how I carry it, it's been trouble-free.

Since then, my EDC setup has remained simple, lightweight, and pocket-friendly.

  • Apple iPhone Air — Current daily driver; the upgrade that defined this year's EDC.
  • Casio G-Shock 5600 — Primary watch; rotated with the classic Casio A168 depending on mood or occasion.
  • Victorinox Classic — Compact and always on hand.
  • Victorinox Huntsman — The go-to for versatility; still a favorite to rotate in.
  • Coach Leather Card Wallet — The March 2024 switch that changed everything; slim, comfortable, and trouble-free once you nail the carry position.

I still enjoy rotating between my Victorinox models — especially the Huntsman for its versatility. And depending on mood or occasion, I switch between my G-Shock 5600 and the classic Casio A168.

Future Considerations

One possible change is moving away from the Coach Wallet — its exposed design has caused some damage to credit cards. Two options are on the radar.

Option 1 — Hermès Calvi

The Hermès Calvi Card Wallet is the premium choice at $435 (2025 retail). The decision to evaluate it won't come until around 2027. The appeal is authenticity of materials and build quality — with the expectation it could last as long as the Coach Wallet, if not longer.

Option 2 — Carl Friedrik Swanfeld

The Carl Friedrik Swanfeld is a more reasonable $135, uses thicker leather, and shares a similar clamshell design with the Calvi. Its key advantage: dedicated card slots, versus the Calvi's simpler open-pocket design.

Feature Hermès Calvi Carl Friedrik Swanfeld
Price (2025) $435 $135
Design Clamshell, open pocket Clamshell, dedicated card slots
Leather Premium Hermès materials Thicker leather construction
Decision Timeline Evaluate ~2027 Active consideration

The exposed design of the Coach Wallet has caused some credit card wear — the primary motivation for eventually upgrading to a protected clamshell design.
